And now it looks like she's done it again after telling contestant Lucy Heath and her canine companions that they'd been BGT's "best dog act ever".

This comes despite Ashleigh Butler winning the show in 2012 with her late dog Pudsey, who went on to become a superstar in his own right.

The ITV favouritereturned to our screens this weekend, with new hopefuls standing in front ofAmanda,Alesha Dixon,Bruno Tonioliand head judgeSimon Cowellfor their shot at stardom.

She joked, "You are incredible because I can just about get my dog out in the garden for a wee. It was incredible.

"I would agree with Bruno and go as far as to say it's the best dog act we've ever had on the show."

The delighted hopeful couldn't contain her joy after being sent through to the next round with four yeses.

However, the same couldn't be said for viewers at home, who shared their dismay at Amanda's comment online.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one user fumed, "Best dog act??? Scuse me Ashleigh and Pudsey who????"

A second added, "Dog acts on got talent nothing will beat the late pudsey."

Someone else agreed, "No one will beat Pudsey the dog I fear - don’t even try."

One more raged, "Shes never going to be as good as Pudsey and her trainer Ashley."

During the same episode, Amanda made another faux pas when South African opera singer Innocent Masuku blew the judges away with his powerful voice.

The spellbound judge told him: "Simon said that every year we've got to keep raising the bar when we're looking for talent.

"We can't look back, we have to have people that go beyond our expectations, and that's exactly what you did today.

"Hands down, in the 17 years we've been doing Britain's Got Talent, you are by far the best opera singer we have ever had."

Some took this to be a swipe at Paul, who won the show back in 2007 and became one of the show's biggest success stories.

Writing about the moment on social media, one said: "A smack in the face for Paul Potts from Amanda right there."

While another added: "Bit of a kick in the teeth for Paul Potts that one Amanda."

"Amazing young man. Amanda Holden a bit out of order with her comment, has she forgotten Paul Potts," noted a third.

A fourth completely disagreed and said: "He was good but not quite enough, and Amanda is wrong, Paul Potts was a miles better singer!"

Despite the rave reviews, not one of the judges decided to give Innocent theGolden Buzzer- though they all unanimously voted to put him through to the next round.
